How do I know if my child needs speech therapy?
Speech Therapy may be recommended if a child is showing difficulties in the following areas of development:
Inconsistent eye contact
Social Play and participation
Lack of development of non-verbal communication (i.e. gestures, pointing,)
Delayed development of speech sounds/articulation
Difficult to understand
Has difficulty following directions
Hesitates often, repeats or prolonged sounds
Has difficulty chewing and swallowing
Receptive and/or expressive language concerns
Social communication difficulties
Learning differences
Decreased oral motor strength
